Founded in 2015, Lieutenant Willsdorff is a publishing house that is dedicated to contemporary photography and works exploring the margins, especially sexuality.

Lieutenant Willsdorff is the young naval officer thirsty for adventure and freedom in the French movie directed by Pierre Schoendoerffer (1928-2012), The Drummer Crab:

"He's my conscience.
As you can see, he's all black.
And not very good looking...
But as you can see too, he's incorruptible."

It is even more of a tribute to the suffering... the pathetic and aching mysticism of the Bad Lieutenant directed by Abel Ferrara.
The name of Lieutenant Willsdorff was chosen because this dark and tormented conscience – which is the conscience in all of us – perfectly defines our editorial line.
