Lieutenant Willsdorff is the young naval officer thirsty for adventure and freedom in the French movie directed by Pierre Schoendoerffer (1928-2012), The Drummer Crab:
"He's my conscience.
As you can see, he's all black.
And not very good looking...
But as you can see too, he's incorruptible."
It is even more of a tribute to the suffering... the pathetic and aching mysticism of the Bad Lieutenant directed by Abel Ferrara.
The name of Lieutenant Willsdorff was chosen because this dark and tormented conscience – which is the conscience in all of us – perfectly defines our editorial line.
